Kerazy Weekend Part 1
Friday starts off with a well deserved vacation day.Gives me time to pack for my Grandparents 60th wedding anniversary, and some other odds and ends.
So, skipping through most of the boring details of the majority of the day, I pack and head over to my parents place to caravan up to Sault Ste. Marie, with a one night stop outside of Sudbury to visit my Aunt Karen's place.
Dad rented a van so, my parents, my brother and his fiancee and I can all travel comfortably. The trip started out great, about 3:30PM we headed off, stopped for gas once, watched south park on my brothers laptop, listened to my iPod (The ongoing history of new music is awesome).
I had my blackberry with me, there were quite a few relatives coincidentally visiting my aunt Karen's place this weekend. So I spent some time on msn talking with my cousin Adam, who was already there.
We stopped for supper at a greasy spoon about an 1.5 hours from my aunt Karen's, and my dad thought it my grandpa would be amazed if I messaged him on the road. Grandpa is the worlds slowest typer, so when I messaged him we had a very long conversation with very short (usually 2 word) sentences, we finished dinner and were well on our way back to Aunt Karen's when grandpa said "bad driving? hit snow yet?". What? Snow? Bad driving? Can't be that bad, probably just grandpa... Let's see what Environment Canada's has to say "SNOW WARNING IN EFFECT" "SOMETHING ABOUT REALLY BAD DRIVING ALL WEEKEND STARTING FRIDAY NIGHT". Well isn't that just perfect 5 hours into our drive.
What rotten luck! Mom and Dad (and to a lesser extent me and my brother) are not keen on long haul driving through a snow storm. So we slowly decide that we have to head the 5 hours back to Ottawa =(, but being 1/2 hour from Aunt Karen's we will at least go say hi.
The weather still looked fine the rest of the way to Aunt Karen's. We get there to find that my cousin Cheryl already decided to head home before the weather hit. Dad has a coffee, and I get to look through Adams wedding picture and play with Blake a bit (when he wasn't cranky). Alright 45 minutes of visiting it's time to head off. Being 9PM now we are not going to get home until about 2AM....
On the ride back I realize I have a decision to make now, Duncan's Party, or Jenn's Family Halloween bash.
